I had a much easier time finding a crew than star trek bridge crew- you can join active games in this. The last one was so much fun (for a good few hours) I no longer regret not refunding. I didn't use discord (same gripe as yourself, can't be bothered) but just popped over to the american servers, and got into several crews rightaway. what brings us to point two- finding the crew. However, you're right, the true experience is with a good human crew. The programming language, if one does fancy finetuning, is fairly simple and discord is not needed- there's a good youtube vid on it. Don't have a lot of mileage with them, but they do appear to be ready out of the box. I did look into that (Kinda like the appeal to finetune them) but they already come fully programmed. The bots used to replace missing crew can indeed be programmed. Oh yeah, agreed- I tried it in VR and quickly went back to normal :D It's pretty bad. I honestly believe this is the worst VR supported game out there. I brought a game, not some unfinished prototype where I have to go to a discord channel (something I don't use) just to try and fix it. I just don't think I can be bothered to try and work around the issues. I get that's the main selling point, but the fact that everything else just feels broken, even simple things, then it's clearly looking like it has more cons than pros. This game is seriously neglected and seems to depend on one thing and one thing only - coop. I brought it for the VR thinking that it's perhaps better than Bridge Crew, which IMO wasn't great, but at least it worked and ran well. I hear this talk about how great it is with other players but then I hear stories about how boring it actually is even in coop. What I do know is that VR performance and VR controls are bad, the AI is terrible and requires the player to program them to make them less terrible, only that we have to go to a discord channel for instructions. I'm 104 minutes in and that's just trying VR. That's the thing, there isn't enough time to even try these things. Star trek bridge crew times ten, with tuned down graphics. Fully working after that! Also, the academy and early messing around does NOT sell it very well at all- only decide to refund after you've played with a human crew. I had to go to options and select the correct audio device, but after doing so, I then had to completely exit the game and pop back in again.
